Experience Unlimited's Training and Development Department ("EU-TAD") develops, organizes, and leads five "Core Workshops" which are pre-requisite to full Experience Unlimited membership. They are offered on a regular schedule which is published in the EU Weekly Newsletter (found in the EU Administrative Office and online on the EUSF Yahoo Group).

Core Workshop Descriptions

Skills and Presentation
Assessing the skills you will present to employers is key. The first rule is to know what hard and soft skills you have to contribute to a company's success. If you don't' know this- COLD- you will have difficulty crafting compelling answers to interview questions, and composing accomplishment statements for your resume.

Resumes & Cover Letters
In 30- seconds or less, the hiring manager will decide if you "get" what they are looking for, and whether your skills and experience match what they need. The cover letters and resumes of yesteryear no longer win jobs and employment contracts. Plagiarism is not the answer to aligning your skills and experience with a job posting, yet your resume must be convincing. Hiring managers scan resumes and cover letters for keywords matches. They are looking for ways you have done the job they are hiring for. Have you told them in their language that you have done the job before, even if through transferable skills? Nail the interview by mixing keywords and synonyms that tell managers you have done the tasks they need help with.

Interviewing
Know how to verbally portray your past job success to qualify yourself to do the job. The emerging trend in interviewing is behavioral interviewing. Although necessary, employees are an expense that can benefit the company or bankrupt it. So, hiring managers now rely on behavioral interview questioning styles to find out when you have actually performed the tasks they need to hire someone to do. "How you would do it" no longer suffices because, well, anybody can say how he or she might perform a task. How someone might do it has proven to be counter-profitable.

Networking
Company success is tied to dollar maximization. Employers have begun to take the critical path in choosing what teams will run the company. In 2007, nearly 30% of jobs were filled by someone who knew someone. If you like to socialize, this job market presents the perfect opportunity to mix business with pleasure by networking. Extroverts and Introverts can try networking with each other and in smaller groups. There are thousands of gainfully employed and well-connected Introverts out there.
